Darron Gibson has revealed that he may have to leave Old Trafford should he wish to achieve his aim of a regular first team place at a top club - and following the Irishman's star turn in this week's Champions League encounter against Schalke, there are no shortage of suitors.
Gibson is keen to remain at United and is known to be highly rated by boss Sir Alex Ferguson, despite the misgivings of large sections of the club's support, but he recognises that at 23, he is at an age where he needs to be playing more regularly than as at present in order to push his career on. Aston Villa, Blackburn, Fulham and intriguingly West Brom are monitoring the situation, with much hinging on the decision of Paul Scholes as to whether to remain with the Red Devils for a final year. Should Ferguson reluctantly accept any transfer request from the man from Derry, it is likely that a fee of £6m would be demanded.
